About your Guide

 

David, A Scot living in Kraków, has been a photographer since the age of 15 initally as a hobby, then a pssion then a profession.  Mainly photographing, landscapes, travel, portraits, street photography and photojournalism as well as taking photographs in the course of his previous career as a Polce Officer in Scotland.

David has been photographing Kraków for 16 years..  In 1998 he began bringing photographers from the UK over to Poland for Kraków Photomonth Festival and provifding them with Photo Tours in and around Kraków. link to epz 


On retiring from the Police in 2011 David set up home in Kraków.

He was the photographer for the Krakow Post magazine, the English language magazine for Krakow's International Community, when in an unexpected twist of fate, David became the Managing Director and Publisher of the magazine.

About Kraków Photography Tours

 

Kraków is a breathtaking and  incredibly photogenic city,.  

Famous for it's wonderful architecture, it's rich culture and it's historical importance, The Old Town (Stare Miasto) and the Jewish District of Kazimierz are the main tourist areas, each different.  The Old Town, surrounds the majestic Main Square (Rynek Główny) The largest medieval market square in Europe, The centre is alive with energy day or night. 

Kazimeirz, and across the river Vistula (Wisła) Podgórze are steeped in the legacy of Jewish Kraków, here you will find many of Kraków's best bars and cafes as well as discovering Schindlers Kraków.

You will be shown the 'landmark;/postcard' sites along with lesser known locations found off the beaten track.
 
Kraków Photo Tours was founded by David McGirr and is the first and only Tour Company specialising in photography tours and workshops and lead by a professional photographer.

Kraków Photo Tours offer a variety of tours for all abilities; for the beginner wanting to learn the basics, the intermediate, perhaps upgrading to their first DSLR or wanting to change out of Auto and get more creative or professional phototgraphers wanting to expand their portfolio.or simply have the benefit of a guide who shares their photography passsion and can help them to capture the magic of Kraków.
 
 

He gained valuable experience providing editorial and reportage photography for the Krakow Post as well as many other publications including, The Jewish Journal (USA), The Times of IsraelPolicing Professional MagazineThe Sun newspaper, The Daily MailBBC News and Zoo magazine (UK) whilst building on his comprehensive knowledge of the city and it's characters.

David has written features and articles on photographing Krakow and Krakow Photomonth Festival.

As well as collaborating with a number of agencies, magazines and private clients, David founded Krakow Film & Photography Group, which quickly grew to over 600 members.  David continued to offer guided private tours of Krakow to visiting photographers, offering facts about the city and importantly tuition on how to get the best out of their cameras whilst showing visitors the best photo locations in the city, not all of them so obvious.

David began IKrakow Photo Tours in 2015, continuing to share his passiosn of photography and Kraków, helping photographers of all levels, get the most out of their visit to this beautiful city and giving them the confidence and knowledge to
capture the magic !.
